Diesel Driven Zone II Powerpacks
Prior Diesel, as designer and packager of diesel driven Zone II powerpacks, offers units ranging from 85bhp to 2000bhp using engines from the various manufacturers that we represent.
The explosion protection powerpacks are designed for safe use in Class I Division 2 (NEC500), Class I Zone II (NEC505) – ATEX Directive (94/9/EC) Zone II hazardous locations with category 3G (Zone 2), gas group IIA, T3 (200 degree C) temperature class certification.
Prior Diesel built Zone II powerpacks are suitable for a range of equipment including wireline, hydraulic powerpacks, nitrogen units, coil tubing, high pressure water jetting and generator sets.
Engines manufactured for operation in Zone II require significant modification and additional components including water cooled turbo and exhaust system, temperature sensors, air inlet shutdown valves, flame arresters and spark arrester on the exhaust system. This prevents any internal explosions from propagating to the external atmosphere.
A diesel engine should not be used in a potentially explosive environment unless it is suitably protected.
